Meet the Designer

David Meikuang has been with Topdrawer from the very beginning and is the creative brain behind all the Kolo House Shoes. We wanted to know what made the new House Shoe line so special, find out the thought process behind David’s Kolo Damson Collection.

What was the inspiration behind this new linen collection?

Our customers wanted a lighter weight version of our house shoes for the hotter summer months.

What sets this linen collection apart from our other house shoes?

We used 100% premium Irish Linen for the inside and outer body of the house shoes, aside from the usual suede leather bottom and elastic heel. Linen is perfect for summer months since it is a natural lightweight fabric that keeps feet cool in the summer, similar to the benefits of a lightweight linen shirt.

How did you approach the design process for this collection?

We explored many different textiles, but settled on Linen due to its luxurious feel and light-weight fabric. We also loved the amazing bold colors we could develop with this remarkable Irish linen mill that has made linen for over 100 years.
